Cristen Kromm has served as Dean of Undergraduate Student Life for Columbia College and The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science since February 2015. She initially began her tenure at Columbia in 2006 with oversight of residence life; her portfolio now includes oversight of Residential Life, Multicultural Affairs, Student Engagement and Administration and Planning. Cristen's team is responsible for new student orientation, all aspects of the residential experience, fraternity and sorority life, student organization advising and leadership, and affinity group, diversity, cultural and community programming. In her role, she works closely with many students and campus partners throughout the University.

Dean Kromm also serves as the dean-in-residence for the residential community. She hosts dinners, study breaks and takes students into NYC for Broadway shows or other social events.

Dean Kromm holds a B.A. in sociology from Wheaton College in Massachusetts and a master of social work from New York University. Previously, she worked within student life at Barnard College and at SUNY, Stony Brook.

Originally from West Springfield, Massachusetts, Dean Kromm lives in Wallach Hall with her children, Ariana and Aaron. Her family also includes Dempsey, a Jack Russell-beagle mix, and Rooney, an English bulldog, who bring smiles to countless students around campus. When she isn't attending her children's soccer and baseball games, she enjoys reading, thrill rides (especially roller coasters) and recently began biking around NYC.
