Over the Summer

There are many things to take care of before the New Student Orientation Program (NSOP). Housing, Health Services and other campus operations provide a comprehensive checklist students must complete before they arrive at Columbia.

Advising Before Arrival

Students will be assigned an adviser in the Berick Center for Student Advising (CSA) the summer before their first year. Encourage students to connect with the CSA before coming to campus, and to stay in touch throughout their time here!

Student Financial Services supports the Columbia community with tuition rates and fees information, billing and payments, and more.

We encourage you to review the payment schedule for the academic year with your student. This schedule is updated each year in the summer.

Financial Aid and Educational Financing

Financial Aid and Educational Financing is here to work with your family in developing a plan to pay for college and to help students achieve the goal of attending Columbia University.

Orientation Programs and Move-In

Move-in, Family Orientation, Convocation

August 27: Move in for International Students and optional Bag Drop

The New Student Orientation Program (NSOP)

August 28—September 5: New Student Orientation Program

The New Student Orientation Program (NSOP) will help your student to feel at home in Morningside Heights, become familiar with the academic and co-curricular opportunities, learn about campus traditions, understand how to access campus resources and support services, and meet the Columbia community! NSOP participation is mandatory to ensure the academic and social well-being and success of first-year students.
