First-Years

Welcome to the Columbia Family! Families of first-year students in the Class of 2026 should start here.

Accepted Students

Countdown to Columbia

The Countdown to Columbia website will be the primary source of information for you and your student before arriving on campus for check-in and the New Student Orientation Program (NSOP) including a comprehensive checklist of pre-arrival requirements, pre-orientation webinars and events, and introductions to academics, campus life, and the Columbia community.

Advising Before Arrival

Students will be assigned an adviser in the Berick Center for Student Advising (CSA) the summer before their first year. Encourage students to connect with the CSA before coming to campus, and to stay in touch throughout their time here!

Billing

Student Financial Services supports the Columbia community with tuition rates and fees information, billing and payments, and more.

We encourage you to review the payment schedule for the academic year with your student. This schedule is updated each year in the summer.

Financial Aid and Educational Financing

Financial Aid and Educational Financing is here to work with your family in developing a plan to pay for college and to help students achieve the goal of attending Columbia University.

Orientation Programs and Move-In

Move-in, Family Orientation, Convocation

The New Student Orientation Program (NSOP) will help your student to feel at home in Morningside Heights, become familiar with the academic and co-curricular opportunities, learn about campus traditions, understand how to access campus resources and support services, and meet the Columbia community! NSOP participation is mandatory to ensure the academic and social well-being and success of first-year students.
