Part of the Multicultural Affairs Advisory Council (MAAC), the Student of Color Advisory Board (SoCAB) informs, provides recommendations, and works with Multicultural Affairs, the offices on the Student of Color Resource Team, and numerous offices across the University to address the campus experiences and issues impacting undergraduate students of color in Columbia College and the Fu Foundation School of Engineering & Applied Science.
- Are an accessible and visible resource for students of color.
- Foster a supportive intercultural learning community among students of color.
- Keep the University accountable and responsive to students of color and their concerns.
- Act as campus leaders in encouraging discussions, collecting feedback, advocating for the needs, and raising the visibility of students of color.
SoCAB is composed of 7-10 undergraduate students from Columbia College and the Fu Foundation School of Engineering & Applied Science. The application process, which is open to all undergraduates in Columbia College and Columbia Engineering, is competitive and seeks to seat a board that is highly diverse and broadly representative of our undergraduate communities of color.
