Undergraduate Student Life works to foster a welcoming and inclusive community by supporting undergraduate students in the development of skills and awareness of self and others required to responsibly engage, serve and lead at Columbia, in New York City, and beyond.
Our team, working across Multicultural Affairs, Residential Life, and Student Engagement offers programs, services, and resources that encourage students and student groups to grow personally as they work individually and collaboratively to enrich their education, develop and cultivate traditions, and enhance and transform the Columbia community.
Vision & Values
We seek to create experiences for students that will inspire them to respectfully engage in and positively contribute to the culturally pluralistic, interconnected communities they will encounter throughout their lives.
Wellness: We practice and encourage behaviors that promote care for self and others.
Inclusivity: We seek to create opportunities through our programs, resources, and services that encourage a greater understanding and respect of commonalities and differences across a spectrum of ideas, identities and experiences.
Collaboration: We encourage constructive and productive interpersonal and working relationships between individuals and communities at Columbia and beyond.
Accountability: We seek to develop community members who acknowledge the ideas, rights, and dignity of others, live their values, take responsibility, and reflect upon the impact of actions and behaviors.
Innovation: We identify new and creative ways to provide programs, services and resources as we meet the needs of current students.
