Lavender Graduation LGBTQIAward Nominations

Thank you for taking the time to nominate someone for an LGBTQIAward. The LGBTQIAwards are an opportunity to nominate and honor Columbia University and Barnard College students, faculty, staff and alumni for their contributions to the LGBTQ community.

Award Descriptions 

Senior Speaker

Must be a graduating senior who has been a leader in the LGBTQ community at Columbia University and/or Barnard College and has contributed to the strengthening of community, advocacy for LGBTQ students, or has exhibited exemplary leadership during their time on campus. 

Dedication to Education Award

This award recognizes a student of any school year who has shown a dedication to education, outreach and advocacy concerning the LGBTQ community at Columbia University and Barnard College.

LGBTQ Legacy Award

This award recognizes graduating students who have left an indelible mark on the LGBTQ community at Columbia University and Barnard College in the form of advocacy, support services, community building and/or positive change.

Mentorship Award

This award recognizes junior and senior students who have served as mentors and guides for LGBTQ rising leaders and have contributed to a continued culture of LGBTQ mentorship at Columbia University and Barnard College.

Community Allyship Award

This award recognizes students of any school year who have served as an ally and advocate for communities at the intersections of LGBTQ and other social identities that they do not belong to in the form of advocacy, education, service and/or programming. 

Dean Peter Awn Commitment to LGBTQ Community (Faculty and Staff Award)

This award recognizes faculty, staff and/or departments who have exhibited a commitment to LGBTQ community in their work at Columbia University and Barnard College.

OUTstanding Leadership Award

This award recognizes a rising (first- and second year) LGBTQ student leader at Columbia University and Barnard College who has exemplified outstanding LGBTQ leadership over the past year through a dedication to enhancing LGBTQ community.

Distinguished Alumni Award

Sponsored in part by CU Pride, Columbia University’s LGBTQ Alumni Group, this award recognizes Columbia University and Barnard College alumni who have championed the rights of marginalized communities, including the LGBTQ community, in their work after graduation.
