2021 Orientation Leader Application

Applications for New Student Orientation Program (NSOP) orientation leaders are now open! Apply to become an orientation leader by Monday, March 8 at 11:59 p.m. EST.

Please note that if you are a resident adviser (RA); have a role in COÖP, ISOP or CUE; or are an Under1Roof facilitator or consent facilitator, then you are unable to be an orientation leader due to scheduling conflicts.

Important Dates and Expectations

  • Always maintain a positive attitude towards Columbia University and NSOP
  • Respect and follow the directions of crew captains, the NSOP Committee and NSOP staff
  • Be flexible as it relates changes due to COVID-19 updates
  • Adhere to the important dates below in a timely manner:
    • Group Information Session (via Zoom) - Mandatory information session for new leaders. 
      • Monday, February 22, 10:00-11:00 a.m. EST
      • Tuesday, February 23,  10:00-11:00 a.m. EST
      • Thursday, February 25, 8:00-9:00 p.m. EST
      •  Friday, February 26, 10:00-11:00 a.m. EST
      • Thursday, March 11, 3:00–4:00 p.m. EST
      • Friday, March 12, 1:00–2:00 p.m. EST
    • Individual Interviews (via Zoom)-Interviews will be the week of March 23 and will consist of a short individual interview
      • Tuesday, March 23 - Tuesday, March 29
    • OL Signing Sessions (via Zoom)- All leaders who have received an offer must attend one of these sessions. 
      • Thursday, April 8 from 8:30-9:00 p.m.
      • Friday, April 9 from10:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
      • Monday, April 12 from 10:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.  
    • OL Move-In - Orientation Leaders are expected to arrive on campus anytime during the designated move-in times prior to the start of NSOP training
      • Wednesday, August 25 from 8:00-11:00 a.m.
    • OL Training - Orientation Leaders must be available for the duration of training. Training will begin promptly at noon on Wednesday, August 25.
      • Wednesday, August 25 -Friday, August 27
    • NSOP 2021 - Orientation Leaders must be available for the entirety of NSOP
      • Sunday, August 29–Monday, September 6

CU Well Peer Leaders

CU Well Peer Leaders are needed to facilitate conversations with incoming students about managing choices as they transition into the Columbia community. Through these conversations, we hope to create a smart, safe, responsible, and well University community. Please indicate if you are interested in your application. If you are interested and selected to be a CU Well Peer Leader your move-in date will be Monday, August 23.
