The degree application is a short form that provides the Registrar with information necessary to clear you for your degree. You cannot graduate without applying for your degree.
To apply, open your Vergil dashboard and click "View My Degree Application Status" (under "Academic Records").
The deadline to apply for your degree is listed on the Registrar's website.
Please note:
Before you apply, check the program(s) of study listed in your Academic Profile in Vergil. If any of your programs of study are inaccurate, contact your advising dean to update them before submitting your degree application.
If you want your middle name to appear on your diploma, ensure that it is included on this form in the “Name” field. You may request that your middle name be abbreviated or omitted if you prefer. You cannot change your legal first or last name on this form. Any changes to your legal first or last name must be made via the Registrar’s “Name Change Affidavit” process.
After you submit your application, your degree application status will remain "submitted" up until your degree conferral date or a few days later.
Diplomas are mailed out several weeks after the degree conferral date. Please email diplomas@columbia.edu with any questions about your diploma delivery.
