Student Advising

Philosophy and Mission

The CSA Tutoring Service is an academic support system that provides tutoring to all CC and SEAS undergraduate students.

Mission

  • To increase the probability of academic success for students who utilize the service;

  • To enhance the students understanding of a given subject, while improving the student's ability to successfully complete a course; and

  • To provide opportunities for tutors to develop interpersonally and help their peers succeed.

Utilization of the tutoring service will help tutees gain the following:

  • Increased expertise and understanding of the course content in the specific subjects being tutored.

  • Suggestions and support for developing improved study skills;

  • Confidence in fully participating in class; and

  • Positive self-image as an academically successful student.

Tutors who are assisting these students can expect to gain the following:

  • Increased expertise and understanding of the course content in the specific subjects being tutored;

  • Assist in improving a peer's study habits;

  • Acquiring skills that are transferable to other areas for future professional work; and

  • Greater initiative to help others and the commitment to continue excelling in classes.
