Technical Requirements: Chemistry

What is required?

At least one semester of chemistry (possibly two, depending on your major).

All incoming first-year students are required to attend the Chemistry information session and take the departmental placement exam during New Student Orientation. There are three different first-year tracks.

In Track 1, students take CHEM CC1403-C1404, a one-year course in general chemistry, with CC1500, a one-term laboratory course; MATH UN1101 or the equivalent is a co-requisite.

Track 2 students take CHEM CC1604, a one-term intensive course in general chemistry.

Track 3 students take CHEM CC3045-C3046, a one-year course in organic chemistry for first-year students.

All students in Tracks 2 and 3 take CHEM CC2507, a one-term laboratory course; MATH UN1102 or the equivalent is a co-requisite.

When?

Fall of the first year.

Can I test out?

No. However, previous background in chemistry will help to determine placement level.
