Council and Governing Board Retreat: RSVP for September 18 - 19, 2015

This fall's Student Council and Governing Board Retreat will include leaders from the executive boards of the ESC, CCSC, Class Councils, SGB, and ABC. It promises to be an exciting and productive event! Please RSVP using the form below, whether you are attending or not. This will allow us to plan appropriately and make proper arrangements for transportation and lodging.

We will be leaving campus on Friday, September 18, at 2:30 p.m. and returning to campus on Saturday, September 19, by midnight.

Columbia Leads: Program Participation

Thank you for your interest in having your program included in Columbia Leads! This form is an information-gathering tool that will help determine how your program/event/opportunity might best fit into Columbia Leads. You should be able to complete this form within 5-10 minutes. In this section, we ask you to please check any and all competencies that you feel are directly addressed through participation in your program. Note that competencies are separated into three categories: "individual", "group", and "societal" leadership.
In hours (half-hour increments are allowed), estimate the amount of time an individual participating in your program would invest (specific to the role you have indicated). Please enter numbers only (ex: enter "2.5" for two and a half hours). Note: For lengthier programs, such as multi-day retreats, please include only time during which participants are engaged in programming.

KCLEA Faculty/Administration RSVP 2014

On Thursday, April 17th at 6:30pm, in Roone Arledge Auditorium, students from Columbia College and Columbia Engineering will be recognized for their contributions to the Columbia community. The doors will open at 6:00pm, with the ceremony starting promptly at 6:30pm. A dessert reception will follow the ceremony, beginning at 7:30pm.

Awardee Information
Please type your name as you wish it to appear on your award, the ceremony program, and the Undergraduate Student Life website.
Phonetic respelling will be used to assist in the correct pronunciation of your name at the ceremony.

How to Phonetically Respell Your Name

Step 1: Start with your full name as it appears in SSOL. Remove any names you do not wish to have read and add any nicknames and suffixes you do want read.

Step 2: Identify common names that do not need to be phoneticized, and keep these as they are.

Step 3: For the remaining names, try to think of any common words that are pronounced similarly, and swap these in. Example: Albert Kao becomes Albert Cow. (Watch out for words that could have multiple pronunciations! For example, “bow” could sound like “boh” as in “bow and arrow” or “bough” as in “bow wow.”)

Step 4: Use the respelling guide to determine how to indicate the remaning sounds in your name. Example: If the name Bowman begins with the sound in “bow and arrow,” write Boh-man.

Step 5: Separate the syllables with a dash. Example: Amy Nostdahl would be written as Amy Nahst-doll.

Step 6: Capitalize any syllables that should be emphasized. Example: Adebola Adeniran becomes Ah-DAY-buh-la Ah-DEN-i-ran.

Notify a Family Member or Friend
At your request, Columbia University will notify a family member or loved one of your selection for a King's Crown Leadership Excellence Award. An email, including the date and time of the ceremony will be sent to this person. If you do not wish to have anyone notified, please leave the field blank.
Submit a Photo
If you have any photos you would like to share from the past year that highlight your student groups or your work on campus, please submit them for display at the ceremony. Remember to get permission from everyone pictured before you submit your photo. These will be seen during the event!

Business Dining Etiquette Lunch RSVP

Thank you for your interest in the Business Dining Etiquette Lunch at Bernheim and Schwartz on Tuesday, April 7, from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. If you wish to attend, please indicate your interest below. Only RSVP if you can attend the entire program. Leadership Workshop RSVP: "Looking Ahead - Strategic Planning"

Looking to hit the ground running in the coming semester? This workshop gives students an opportunity to reflect upon their goals for the Fall, and set up a plan of action to ensure that they are met. We will also cover topics related to communication and setting expectations for the summer.
