The Dean of The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) has provided opportunities for supplemental support to undergraduate engineering students and activities that align with the mission of SEAS, allow for the professional development of SEAS students and/or use engineering in the service of others. The SEAS Dean Travel Fund has two tracks of funding: The Engineering Students Service Learning Travel Support Fund and the Engineering Groups Conference, Networking and Competition Fund. Funding amounts are based on financial need, and only one application is required per student group. The application will need to demonstrate how the SEAS Dean Travel funding will support the trip as well as explain other sources of funding.
Who May Apply
Any undergraduate Columbia Engineering student who is in good standing with the University and is a member of a University-recognized student group or University-affiliated program.
All students who intend to apply for the SEAS Dean Travel Fund must meet the deadline requirements for travel for which funds are being requested. For domestic trips, groups must apply four weeks in advance. For international trips, groups must apply eight weeks in advance. Applications that do not meet these requirements will be deemed ineligible for funding.
The Non-Engineering Travel Support Fund is no longer available for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Engineering Groups Conference, Networking and Competition Fund
The fund is offered to help facilitate professional development, networking and “peer-recognition” opportunities in the field of engineering and applied science.
Grants may be requested to help underwrite participation in conferences, seminars, engineering student group competition or trainings that correspond to the focus of the identified engineering student group. Grants may be used to help offset registration fees, travel and/or lodging.
Engineering Students Service Learning Travel Support Fund
The fund is offered to promote responsible engineering domestically and abroad.
Grants may be requested to help underwrite participation in University-affiliated, domestic or international service related initiatives where grantees serve as a representative of the Engineering school or the University at large.
Students may request a support grant to help underwrite the cost of participation in a student group initiated service project. Grants may be used to help offset travel and/or lodging.
Non-Engineering Travel Support Fund
The fund is offered from the Engineering Student Council to offset the costs of undergraduate SEAS student travel that is not related to engineering efforts.
The Non-Engineering Travel Support Fund is no longer available for the 2019-2020 academic year. Students may request funds to support travel related to the arts, humanitarian efforts, conferences, academic competitions or a number of various student group travels. Grants may be used to help offset registration fees, travel and/or lodging.
