Navigating Columbia: The First Year Experience Program

Are you a CC/SEAS member of the Class of 2016? Are you looking to make the most of  your Columbia experience?

The Center for Student Advising (CSA) and Office of Student Development and Activities (SDA) launched
a pilot program, entitled Navigating Columbia: The First Year Experience Program, in Fall 2012. We are
running an expanded program for Spring 2013. The program will run every Monday night from 5:30 PM
to 7 PM starting on February 11 and run through April 22.

Deadline to apply is Wednesday, February 6th at 9 AM.

Intercultural House Application

Thank you for your interest in the Intercultural Resource Center and for considering the Intercultural House (ICH) as your housing option!  Below is the application for the Fall 2018 Intercultural House. Your timely submission and thoughtful answers are the first presentations of yourself to the evaluation committee. 

At this time, applicants will be placed on a waitlist. Please email Multicultural Affairs to inquire about the waitlist process.

Roommate-Living Information
The ICH is comprised of a variety of room and suite set-ups. Some of these rooms are single occupancies while others are doubles or triples. Most of the doubles and triples are spacious, apartment-style suites with kitchens and bathrooms. If accepted to live in the ICH, you may be offered a double, triple, or single. The following questions will help us gauge your living style and aid us in finding the best fit for you, so please be as honest as possible.

Extracurricular Activities and Work Experience
We are interested in learning more about your extra-curricular activities and leadership experience. Please attach a list of activities that you have participated in during college, dates and positions held, and any jobs you have had. Activities might include involvement in student groups, athletics teams, publications, music and the arts, volunteerism/service learning, and work with community organizations among others. Resumes are acceptable.

Short Responses
Please briefly respond to the following questions:
I must be a currently enrolled undergraduate student in Barnard College, Columbia College, or School of Engineering and Applied Science and in good University standing in order to part of the program. I agree that my academic and disciplinary status may be verified as a part of this application. If I were to be selected to be a part of the ICH, I will attend the Fall Retreat over the Labor Day Weekend, the Winter Retreat before the start of Spring semester classes, attend monthly house meetings, and serve on an educational committee that plans regular programs.

Student Affairs Day of Service - January 8, 2012

We are excited to be holding the Student Affairs Day of Service, a voluntary opportunity for staff members to work together and help victims of Hurricane Sandy. We will be coordinating our service project through New York Cares and will be assisting in the long road to recovery in the Rockaways. Volunteers are needed to muck out hundreds of buildings damaged in Hurricane Sandy and get homeowners ready to rebuild.
