Peer Adviser Post: What to Do When Midterms Are Over

By Zachary Ho, SEAS ‘17Many of us are either in the midst of midterms or finishing them up. Either way, when midterms are over, you are going to need to take a break and relax. Peer Adviser Post: How to Plow Through the Never-Ending Midterm Season

by Dylan Cooper, CC '18

I remember reading the syllabus in my General Chemistry class during my first year. I remember that awkward moment when I asked the student sitting next to me if our professor had made a mistake in scheduling the midterms, which spanned from the third week of classes till the day before reading week.

He hadn't, and soon after I discovered an old Columbia adage:

There's nothing middle about midterms.

Peer Adviser Post: Mental Health Tips

And just like that, we are nearing the end of October and we are already getting into midterms. In the midst of our busy schedules, it’s very easy to forget about all the essential things that help us to be the best student we can be. Now seems like the perfect time to make sure that we’re not just taking care of our grades, but taking care of our mind and body.

Here are a couple reminders:

Take Art Humanities and Music Humanities in One Semester! (Application Deadline: Monday, October 17)

In Spring 2017, a class of 22 students will have the opportunity to take both Art Humanities and Music Humanities in the same semester as part of an initiative to enhance connections between the classes. The instructors of both classes will be present at every class meeting; together, they will accompany the class to all the required musical performances and museum visits. Students and instructors will have a shared experience of Art and Music Humanities.
