Check in to receive your name badges, swag, and printed schedule.
Dinner for International Families and First-Years

First-years and their families or guardians should check in to receive name badges, swag, and a printed schedule.
Hamilton Lawn Hospitality Tent
A hospitality tent will be open on Hamilton Lawn from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. EDT for coffee and water. Stop by in between Orientation events!
Meals will be available at the following times:
Lunch: 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Dinner: 3:45 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Family Orientation Events
Alfred J. Lerner Hall, Roone Arledge Auditorium
Family Orientation events will begin in the morning and run through the afternoon – choose your sessions! You will have the opportunity to learn about the many support services and campus community offerings available to your student through panels about health and safety, campus involvement, and academic advising. There will also be lectures from Columbia College and Columbia Engineering faculty. Check out this site for a full list of events.
Class of 2030 Convocation
6:30 p.m. EDT
Butler Plaza
At the end of the day, students and families or guardians will attend Convocation — the formal assembly of the Columbia College, Columbia Engineering and Columbia University communities that welcomes first-years. This event marks the beginning of students' undergraduate journey. The ceremony features remarks from Columbia College dean Josef Sorett and Columbia Engineering dean Shih-Fu Chang.
Families should plan to depart campus quickly after Convocation so students can begin their New Student Orientation Program experience.
