The James H. and Christine Turk Berick Center for Student Advising (CSA) will guide you throughout your entire academic career at Columbia. As a top-tier academic advising center, the CSA will provide highly personalized help in identifying and pursuing your intellectual passions. They can also connect you to myriad other advising resources.
Registering for Classes
After you meet with your adviser, you will sign up for classes during your assigned registration window, which will be listed on SSOL. You will use several resources to plan your fall schedule, including The Academic Planning Guide, The Bulletin and Vergil.
The Academic Planning Guide
The Academic Planning Guide is your one-stop reference for starting your studies at Columbia. We strongly recommend you read the guide before meeting with your CSA adviser for the first time, so you can ask informed questions. You’ll want to hang on to this guide throughout your time at Columbia.

The Academic Calendar
Be sure to familiarize yourself with the Academic Calendar to stay on top of important dates like registration, the first day of classes, midterms and holidays. Important Tip: You must filter the academic calendar to see the right dates for your specific school! This calendar tool serves the entire University and all 16 schools.
How to Use the Academic Calendar Tool
Select 2021-2022 as the academic year.
Select “Fall” as the semester.
Select either Columbia College or School of Applied Sciences and Engineering (Undergraduate).
Click "Go" to display the results.
Double-check that the correct school year is displayed
