The Core Curriculum - Physical Education

Columbia’s Core curriculum includes a Physical Education component to emphasize the importance of intellectual and physical balance.

Technical Requirements: Calculus

What is required?

Completion of APMA 2000 (Multivariable Calculus) is required for almost all SEAS majors.

Technical Requirements: Physics

What is required?

At least a one-year sequence of introductory physics.

Technical Requirements: Chemistry

What is required?

At least one semester of chemistry (possibly two, depending on your major).

Technical Requirements: Computer Science

What is required?

Generally, one semester of computer science.  

Technical Requirements: Lab

What is required?

One semester of chemistry and/or physics laboratory work; selection will depend upon major.
