Family Orientation will take place the weekend of August 25, 2024, when we welcome new families to Columbia and help them prepare for their students’ transition to college life and the move to Morningside Heights. Families will receive regular updates throughout the summer on an exciting schedule of events during move-in day, as well as our Summer Webinar series covering a variety of topics, including housing, health, student advising, and dining. 

Transfer & Combined Plan Family Welcome and Orientation is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, August 27, 2024.  

Family Days will take place the weekend of October 25, 2024. Including Homecoming events, enjoy a series of intellectual, informational, and social activities designed to let you experience what it means to be a Columbia student.

Class Days are the school-specific celebrations of Columbia College and Columbia Engineering during Commencement Week. Class Day for Columbia Engineering undergraduates is Monday, May 13, 2024 from 11:45am-1:30pm. Class Day for Columbia College is Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 8:30-11:00am. 

Commencement on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 9:00-10:30am, is a ceremony in which all undergraduate and graduate schools of Columbia University participate. No individual students are recognized as President Shafik officially confers degrees to the students en masse. This year, due to the size of anticipated attendance, there will be two commencement ceremonies. All undergraduates will participate in the morning event.
