Housing is provided for approximately 5,600 undergraduate students. 94% of all undergraduates and 99% of all first-year students live in residence halls during the academic year. Housing also provides summer, conference, and guest accommodations.
Residential Life fosters safe and inclusive living and learning environments beyond the classroom to holistically develop responsible global citizens.
In addition to the residence halls, students may also apply to live in a particular Special Interest Community (SIC). SICs create opportunities for students to connect through a particular theme. They are advised by faculty who are knowledgeable in that theme and who connect residents with administrators, alumni, and community leaders.
Columbia is also home to a vibrant fraternity and sorority community.
