2017 Application for Pre-orientation Programs

During the week prior to the New Student Orientation Program, first-year Columbia College and Columbia Engineering students may apply to participate in one of our three pre-orientation programs:

  • Columbia Outdoor Orientation Program (COÖP - pronounced "coh-op")
  • Columbia Urban Experience (CUE)
  • International Student Orientation Program (ISOP)

All programs are amazing opportunities to meet other first-year students and share in a common experience.

2018 Application for International Student Orientation Program

Columbia College and Columbia Engineering students may apply to the International Student Orientation Program. Please note that applicants who apply after the priority deadline (May 18, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. EDT) are not eligible for financial aid. We continue to accept ISOP applications on a rolling basis after prioirty deadline until 11:59 p.m. EDT, Wednesday, August 15, 2018.

The International Student Orientation Program is designed to help first-year international students in Columbia College (CC) and The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) comfortably transition into the Columbia University community before the New Student Orientation Program week.

Your UNI (University Network ID) is the log-in name and password used to access many online services at Barnard/Columbia. It is also the first part of your official Barnard/Columbia email address.
Gender Identity refers to the labels that we use to describe ourselves. Some examples include woman, man, nonbinary, transgender man, cisgender woman, genderqueer, etc.
Pronouns refer to how a person wants to be referred to in the third person. Examples of pronouns include they/them/theirs, he/him/his, she/her/hers, ze/hir/hirs, and others.

What do CUE participants eat?

Breakfasts, lunches, and dinners during CUE are provided by Dining Services.

Where do CUE participants sleep?

Students will move directly into their first year housing assignments on move-in day. However, the program takes place in Special Interest Community (SIC) housing throughout the duration of CUE week. Therefore, academic year housing is not accessible during CUE week. Students are instructed to pack a week’s worth of their belongings to take with them to the SIC house.
