We are committed to making Columbia University Commencement Week events accessible to all guests. Disability Services coordinates this effort. Services are available to guests who use wheelchairs or have limited mobility; to the elderly or anyone else who needs physical assistance, and to those with hearing and visual disabilities. During graduation events, Disability Services staff, event hosts, and Public Safety officers will be on hand to assist.

Access to Campus

For Class Day, guests with mobility issues should enter campus via the 116th Street Gates at Amsterdam Avenue. Event hosts will be stationed at these Gates and available to assist guests with seating. Prepare by viewing the campus disability access map.

Seating

Special seating is available to guests who use wheelchairs or have limited mobility, the elderly or anyone else who needs physical assistance, and to those with hearing and visual disabilities. Seating maps will be made available closer to the event dates.

Reservations for special seating are not required. Upon arrival, please alert a University official to your needs, and you will be directed to the designated seating area.

Closed captioning will be available at both Class Day and Commencement in a designated seating area.

Wheelchairs

Columbia will have available a limited number of wheelchairs for guests attending graduation events; there is no cost associated with borrowing a wheelchair. Please bring your own if possible, however, as there is a limited quantity of loaner wheelchairs available.

Parking

Columbia does not have on-campus parking. Drivers are advised to drop off and pick up passengers with disabilities at the Gates on Amsterdam Avenue at 116th Street. A list of private parking garages is available on the Commencement website
