Global Opportunities

It's never too early to think about opportunities that will allow your student to engage globally and foster their awareness. There are abundant opportunities for international research, study, and travel available to your student at Columbia.

Center for Undergraduate Global Engagement

The Center for Undergraduate Global Engagement brings students, faculty and other Columbia offices together in a central location that creates a hub of global activity at Columbia. The center offers more than 20 Columbia study abroad programs every year in addition to more than 100 other program opportunities throughout the world, ensuring support for a global experience in virtually any geographical region or area of study. Students may schedule an appointment or they can walk into First Steps advising, and one of our advisers will help them navigate the variety of global experiences available to Columbia students during the academic year and the summer term.

Columbia Global Centers

The Columbia Global Centers promote and facilitate the collaborative and meaningful engagement of the University’s faculty, students and alumni with the world to enhance understanding, advance knowledge and its exchange, and address global challenges. The Global Centers, as envisioned by President Lee C. Bollinger, were founded with the objective to connect the local with the global, to create opportunities for shared learning and to deepen the nature of global dialogue.

The nine Global Centers are located in Amman, Beijing, Istanbul, Mumbai, Nairobi, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Santiago and Tunis. This network forms the core of Columbia’s global strategy, which is to expand the University’s ability to contribute positively to the world by advancing research and producing new knowledge on the most important issues confronting our planet.
