Tune in Tuesday evening from 6-9 PM to hear the first of two installments of the Musician's Show taking place this week, where we will be joined by guitarist, composer, and educator Jonathan Kreisberg. A New York native, Kreisberg began playing guitar at age 10 after moving to Miami with his family. He won a scholarship to the University of Miami and the guitar seat in the Concert Jazz Band, which gave him the opportunity to tour Brazil and performing with Joe Henderson, Michael Brecker, and Red Rodney. In addition to jazz gigs with his electric-based Miami trio, Kreisberg became involved in 20th century works with the New World Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas, recorded and performed extensively with the progressive rock group Third Wish, and gave clinics at a number of music institutions. Kreisberg returned to New York in his early 20’s and became part of bands led by Dr. Lonnie Smith, with whom he continues to work in trio, Lee Konitz, Joe Locke, Stefano Dibatista, Ari Hoenig, Joel Frahm, Don Friedman, Greg Tardy, Donald Edwards, Jane Monheit, and Yosvany Terry. In addition, artists such as Bill Stewart, Larry Grenadier, and Scott Wendholt have joined him for his endeavors as a leader. He has recorded eight albums as a leader, the latest of which include the solo record “ONE” and the JKQ (Jonathan Kreisberg Quartet) record “WAVE UPON WAVE”. Be sure to tune in!
