Wednesday, June 17, 2015 - 6:00pm to 9:00pm
Tune in Wednesday evening, June 17th, from 6-9 PM to hear this week's edition of the Musician's Show with composer and improviser, writer and painter, Adam Rudolph. Rudolph is a world renowned percussionist, having performed in five continents, and continuing to lead two of the world's most musically pioneering ensembles: The Organic Orchestra and Moving Pictures. This week you will hear him in conversation with David Ellenbogen.
Having grown up in Chicago and begun studying percussion as a teenager, Rudolph went to Ghana in 1977 to study the local music, and subsequently traveled to Sweden where he lived with Don Cherry, learning all about Ornette Coleman's musical philosophy. Now, he is definitively an innovator in the field of world music, having worked in an array of contexts and styles, with musicians ranging from Yusef Lateef, to Wadada Leo Smith, to Lakshminarayana Shankar, to Pharaoh Sanders and beyond. Be sure to tune in.
