The Music of John Blow on Early Music

Friday, March 20, 2015 - 9:30am to 12:00pm

Though largely overshadowed by Henry Purcell, John Blow was one of England's most important composers of the Baroque era. The choirmaster of St. Paul's Cathedral, Blow is perhaps best known for his masque Venus & Adonis, a landmark work that greatly influenced Purcell's own Dido & Aeneas. Tune in to the Early Music Show for a chance to hear Blow's greatest works, as well as to be entered for tickets to the Columbia University New Opera Workshop's production of Venus & Adonis (along with the Handel cantata La Lucrezia) at the Glicker-Milstein Theatre next week! Stepan Atamian hosts.
