Be sure to tune into WKCR 89.9FM and wkcr.org at 11:00 AM this Sunday morning to catch Michael Daves and Brittany Haas on the Moonshine Show. Daves is a grammy nominated guitarist and singer who has been heralded by the New York Times as “a leading light in the New York bluegrass scene.” He has recorded with the likes of Chris Thile of the Punch Brothers and Tony Trischka. Haas is considered one of the most influential fiddlers of her generation and has performed with Crooked Still, Dave Rawlings Machine, and Haas Kowert Tice.
The two will be promoting their show tonight at the Rockwood Music with renown bluegrass guitarist Chris Eldridge of the Punch Brothers. Though they have worked together in various configurations for years this will be their first outing as trio. Daves and Eldridge have a duo devoted to their mutual love of The Stanley Brothers; Haas and Daves have worked as a duo, and in bands and trio with Tony Trischka and with Noam Pikelny; Daves featured both Haas and Eldridge on his recent Nonesuch Records release, "Orchids and Violence;" Haas and Eldridge are both part of the First Call Radio Players, the acoustic house band for A Prairie Home Companion with Chris Thile.
