Mary Halvorson on Afternoon New Music

Monday, October 26, 2015 - 3:00pm to 6:00pm
Tune in to Afternoon New Music this Monday, October 26 from 3-6 pm for an exclusive in-studio set and interview with Mary Halvorson. The show will feature in-studio performances of pieces off of Mary Halvorson's new solo guitar album "Meltframe." One of improvised music’s most in-demand guitarists, Mary Halvorson has been described as "a singular talent," 'NYC's least-predictable improviser," and "one of the most exciting and original guitarists in jazz — or otherwise." "Meltframe", her first solo guitar album, is the product of three years of gestation and refinement. Initially conceived as a solo guitar album made up of jazz standards, the final document is comprised of modern compositions long admired by Mary. Viewed as the personal, and often revealing statement that solo documents often are, "Meltframe" traces Mary’s path from the beginning to the present.
