Kendra Foster for the Musician's Show

Wednesday, March 15, 2017 - 6:00pm to 9:00pm

Tune in to the Musician's Show on Wednesday, March 15 from 6:00-9:00 PM EST for a live interview with vocalist and composer Kendra Foster. Kendra is currently working on a solo project with producer/writer/musician, Kelvin Wooten. She has recorded regularly in George Clinton’s recording studio, who signed her to a production deal and asked her to join Parliament/Funkadelic on the road, and she recently toured with D’Angelo. Kendra released her first album, “Myriadmorphonicbiocorpomelodicrealityshapeshifter” in 2003. She has also worked closely on many other musicians’ albums as a songwriter, including on “A Warning For The Heart” on Sunshine Anderson’s “The Sun Shines Again”, “Glass Mountain Trust” on Mark Ronson’s “Record Collection”, “U Can Depend On Me” and “Trust In Yourself”, on PFunk Allstars’ “How Late Do U Have 2BB4UR Absent”, and “Stillness In Motion” on George Clinton’s “Gangsters of Love.”

Kendra started singing in church, but her career began at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. When she was a freshman at FAMU, Kendra met Whitney Russell, a trumpet/keys player, after sitting in with his jazz combo at a local coffeehouse. After hearing Kendra sing, Whitney made her his protege. He introduced to her to funk musician Michael Patterson (better known as Mike P). Mike P invited Kendra to join his band, Smoke, performing their originals as well as Parliament/Funkadelic covers. Subsequent to Smoke, Kendra became the lead vocalist for the group Fish -N- Grits.
