Tune in to Cereal Music this Monday morning, June 2nd at 9:30am for an exclusive interview with composer, pianist, and conductor Joan Tower. Tower is regarded as one of the most important living American composers, and one of the most prominent female composers of all time. Tower studied music at Bennington College and Columbia University and early in her career founded the New York based Da Capo Chamber Players, which premiered many of her works. She has served as composer-in-residence for the Saint Louis Symphony, Orchestra of St. Luke's, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and others, and has had her works commissioned by many major soloists and orchestras.

Tower has received numerous accolades for her work, including three Grammy Awards for her composition Made in America, and the first Grawemeyer Award given to a woman for Silver Ladders. Tower currently serves as the Asher B. Edelman Professor of Music at Bard College. Zak Hap and Chason Goldfinger host.
