Bobby Blue Bland Memorial Broadcast

Join us this week during Tuesday’s Just As Bad and Something Inside Of Me as we honor the life and work of the late Bobby Blue Bland. Tune in first on Tuesday from 11:30pm-1:00am, and on Saturday from 2:00pm-4:00pm. Born January 27, 1930 in Tennessee, Bland grew up listening to gospel and blues, influenced by the work of Lowell Fulson and T-Bone Walker. He moved to Memphis in 1947 and began recording with Chess and Duke Records in the 1950s. He would go on to perform with B.B. King and Junior Parker, while establishing himself as a significant solo artist with hit singles such as “Farther Up The Road” and “Turn On Your Love Light.” Bland was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1992 and recognized with a Grammy Award for lifetime achievement in 1997.
