Tune in to Afternoon New Music at 3 pm on Tuesday, April 5th for an exclusive in-studio interview and set with saxophonist/composer Aaron Burnett. The hour-long program will feature Aaron discussing his group Aaron Burnett and the Big Machine, as well as his upcoming gig with Kimberly Thompson Quartet at the Cell Theatre on April 16th. The program will conclude with a short free improvisation from Aaron Burnett on tenor saxophone, performed in-studio at WKCR.
Aaron Burnett was born October 14th, 1981 in Lemoore, CA. Aaron has always stressed the importance of establishing a unique sound for himself while in college, studying classical Baroque composition techniques, studying advance harmony, world music, and atonal composition. He has performed with numerous great musicians such as Steve Coleman, Wynton Marsalis, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Kim Thompson, Esperanza Spalding, and many others.
