Today, Joan La Barbara and Samita Sinha joined me in-studio. La Barbara and Sinha came in and spoke about their most recent pieces and upcoming projects, specifically the Vital Vox Festival. We listened exclusively to music by vocalists who are performing at the festival this afternoon. Joan and Samita also made time to discuss the pieces of theirs that we listened to Monday afternoon.
The Vital Vox Festival, a three-day festival with a fantastic lineup, is taking place at Issue Project Room November 11-13. Joan's piece "Gatekeeper" and Samita's "Cipher" are both being performed by the singers November 12, along with a piece by Corey Dargel and an improvisation by C. Spencer Yeh. The entire lineup for the festival is listed online, and again, is taking place November 11-13.
