Tune in to Out to Lunch today, August 18 from 12-3 PM ET for an in-studio performance by Marjorie Eliot and Parlor Entertainment. An enduring figure in New York's jazz landscape, Eliot is best known for her lively spirit, expressive piano skills, and the Sunday jazz concerts hosted in her 555 Edgecombe Avenue home -- a tradition she and her friends have kept for twenty five years. Today's set will feature both jazz and spoken word excerpts from "In the Quiet Night-Time of My Sleepless Dreams," a play written by Marjorie and performed by Marjorie Eliot on piano, Rudel Drears on piano and vocals, Sedric Choukroun on flute and vocal, Nicholas Mauro on trumpet, and Eric Coleman, Roger Parris, and Cooki Winborn on vocal.
Parlor Entertainment will be performing this Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20 from 2 to 6 PM EST at the historic Morris Jumel Mansion, between St. Nicholas and Edgecombe Avenues and 160th and 162nd Streets, for their twenty fifth annual "Jazz at the Mansion" concerts. Admission is free. The lineup includes: Marjorie Eliot on piano, Rudel Drears on piano and vocals, Sedric Choukroun on flute and vocal, Nicholas Mauro and Koichi Yoshihara on trumpet, Clay Herndon on percussion, Russlyn Kheine on bass, and Dfaye Anderson, Eric Coleman, Roger Parris, and Cooki Winborn on vocal.
