Sam Weinberg for the Musician's Show

Wednesday, August 2, 2017 - 6:00pm to 9:00pm

Tune in to the Musician’s Show on Wednesday, August 2 from 6:00-9:00 PM ET for a live interview with Sam Weinberg, a Brooklyn based saxophonist, composer and improviser. With equal footing in free improvisation, free jazz, and notated musics, Weinberg attempts to push the language and capacity of the saxophone beyond its usual, assumed limits. In the summer of 2016, he founded Renfusa Records which puts out limited-run cassette and CD-R releases of his own music and the music of his colleagues. Weinberg has worked with many cutting-edge musicians, including Maestro Day, a group he co-leads with bassist Henry Fraser (along w Joe Moffett) which explores novel forms of composition, structure and group interaction; W-2 with synthesist Chris Welcome, an abrasive, rhythmically contorted noise duo. Other collaborations and projects are many and varied and include the likes of Ben Bennett, Jaimie Branch, Andrew Smiley, Jason Nazary, and Weasel Walter.
