Tune in to the Musician’s Show this Wednesday, July 19 from 6-9 PM ET for a live interview with American jazz singer Jazzmeia Horn. Horn gained prestige in 2015 when she won the Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz competition. Just two years earlier in 2013, Horn won first place in the Sarah Vaughan competition. Horn first started singing in church in her hometown in Texas--her grandfather was a pastor and her parents wanted her to be active in the church. In 2009, Horn attended the New School for Jazz and Contemporary music, and performed with various groups there. Horn has performed all around New York including at the Apollo, the Red Rooster, and the Metropolitan Room, as well as internationally in England, France, Moscow, South Africa, and Austria. Earlier this year, Horn released her first solo album “A Social Call.” Horn was also featured as one of the stars in South Australia’s Generations in Jazz earlier this year, singing along with artists such as James Morrison, Wycliffe Gordon, Gordon Goodwin, and Ross Irwin. Tune in to hear Horn talk about her new album and upcoming performances!
