Sports

WKCR-FM has dutifully devoted air time to sports broadcasts since its inception more than seven decades ago.

The station continues to serve as the radio home of Columbia Lions athletics, broadcasting home football, women’s basketball, men’s basketball, and baseball games throughout the year.

Most games are broadcast on air and through the main webstream. However, select games are only available through a second stream posted on our website at game time. If you are looking for this, head to the homepage.

In addition to these broadcasts, the WKCR Sports Department also airs a weekly panel-format sports talk show every other Thursday from 9-10pm, called "THE FIRING LION."

Furthermore, WKCR sports covers select local sports games for the Yankees and Mets. A post game report is posted here at the conclusion of the games for your listening pleasure!

Listen to previous Firing Lions, interviews (including a new Gary Cohen interview!), highlights, and other archived audio here.

  • Please note that all football and basketball games will be preceded by a 15-minute pre-game show (Lions Countdown). Check the broadcast schedule for extended pre-game programming. All broadcasts will be followed by a post-game show (Lions Recap) should time permit.
