Sports

WKCR-FM has dutifully devoted air time to sports broadcasts since its inception more than seven decades ago.

The station continues to serve as the radio home of Columbia Lions athletics, broadcasting all football and Ivy League men's basketball games, as well as selected home women's basketball and baseball games throughout the year.

In addition to these broadcasts, the WKCR Sports Department also airs a weekly panel-format sports talk show every Wednesday from 9-10pm, called "THE FIRING LION."

Listen to previous Firing Lions, interviews (including the weekly ones with football coach Pete Mangurian and men's basketball coach Kyle Smith), highlights and other archived audio here.

  • Please note that all football and basketball games will be preceded by a 15-minute pre-game show (Lions Countdown). Check the broadcast schedule for extended pre-game programming. All broadcasts will be followed by a post-game show (Lions Recap) should time permit.
  • All on-air broadcasts are also available through streaming on the station's website, WKCR.org.
