This broadcast begins with complete performances of the secular cantatas that provided movements for five of the six Cantatas that make up the Christmas Oratorio. These are followed by the six Cantatas that make up the Christmas Oratorio, each from a different historic recording. Each Cantata is preceded by the original versions of the movements borrowed from secular cantatas.
