Public Safety

For events requiring Columbia University security guards, arrangements can be made with Lerner Hall staff in consultation with your adviser. Most events requiring security are covered under the Security Fund (explained in more depth in “Funding Opportunities” section). Your Student Affairs adviser will request an event review with appropriate Columbia University stake holders if your event requires a high level of security. Please consult with your adviser for additional information.

Risk Management

Please see your adviser if your event has the potential for physical risks or safety hazards. Student organizations are responsible to all New York State laws, New York City ordinances, and Columbia University policies regarding risk management as published in Facets.
