The Office of Global Programs has established a growing network of student exchange agreements with select undergraduate institutions around the world and accepts approximately 20 students per year for study in both Columbia College and The School of Engineering and Applied Science. Currently, Columbia has exchange partnerships with the following institutions:
- Berlin University of the Arts (UDK), Berlin, Germany
- Bocconi University, Milan, Italy
- Bogaziçi University, Istanbul, Turkey
- Ecole Centrale, Paris, France
- Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong, China
- Imperial College London, London, UK
- Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po), Paris, France
- University of York , England
Exchange Students must maintain full-time student status by registering for a minimum of 12 points per semester and cannot exceed 22 points per semester. With the exception of Core Curriculum courses, Exchange Students are eligible to enroll in most courses within Columbia College, Columbia Engineering, and Barnard College. The Office of Global Programs works closely with Academic departments to facilitate course registration.
Housing and Program Costs
As per conditions of the articulation agreements, Exchange Students are guaranteed housing. While room, board and fees are paid to Columbia, tuition fees are paid to their home institution.
Exchange Students may take advantage of most of the programs and activities available to Columbia College students. The Office of Global Programs assists with course selection and connects them with campus resources. In addition, they may take advantage of advising through the Center for Career Education (such as career fairs, workshops and panels and networking nights) with the exceptions of on-campus recruiting, the national and international internship programs and individual counseling. Exchange students can participate in any extra-curricular organization with the exception of our Division I athletic teams.
