Ray Zhang CC’27 is majoring in biology and is being recognized for his dedication to fostering a culture of care and well-being at Columbia. In the Chalfie Lab, Zhang investigates novel genes involved in C. elegans mechanotransduction pathway. He also volunteers at the Mount Sinai Emergency Department, where he works closely with ED staff and patients from diverse backgrounds, and with the Riverside Language Program, where he teaches English to immigrant ESL students. On campus, Zhang works to strengthen scientific communication among students as co-editor-in-chief of the Columbia Undergraduate Medical Review and supports residential life as an RA.
