Skylar Young CC’26 is a double major in political science and sociology. She is recognized for her leadership and community-building across Columbia and beyond. Young served as president of the Political Science Students’ Association (PSSA) for two years, expanding membership and strengthening connections between students and faculty through inclusive, high-impact programming. She was also on the leadership team of the Undergraduate Recruitment Committee (URC), where she engaged prospective students through tours and panels while overseeing guide hiring and training. As a New Student Orientation Program crew captain, she mentored incoming students and led Orientation programming for two years. Young also fostered school spirit and team leadership as a four-year member of the cheerleading team. She is an Answer the Call Ambassador for Across the Aisle, a nonpartisan nonprofit, and a two-time fellow. Her experience spans all three branches of government, and she plans to pursue a career in law and public service.
“Thank you to the professors who challenged and encouraged me to lead and grow, and to my PSSA, URC, and cheer families for trusting me with leadership and supporting me every step of the way. I am deeply grateful for the constant support of my friends and family, and for this incredible community.”
