Katherine’s time at Columbia is defined by her active involvement in both coursework and cancer research. Her research, especially, is exceptional, examining the full trajectory of cancer from molecular origins to clinical outcomes. She has contributed to published papers on DNA repair in the Greene Lab and studies trends in cancer therapies with a Columbia oncologist. As a biology major, she is a role model to students, serving as a biochemistry TA committed to creating an inclusive environment. She has also been an S-HEAL health educator, teaching health education classes for local high schoolers. Beyond this, Katherine is the founder of Cleaning4SkinCancer, an impactful nonprofit dedicated to skin cancer prevention alongside environmental awareness, through which she facilitated CAREs New Student Orientation Program activities. Outside her many academic passions, Katherine volunteered in the New York-Presbyterian Emergency Department, supported pediatric patients through a hospital playroom, and tutored second-grade students in Harlem.
