Karla Camacho CC’26 is from Orange County, Calif., and majored in ethnicity and race studies and political science. The proud daughter of Mexican immigrants, she focused her studies on immigration and carceral policy, community organizing, borders, and resistance. Camacho is a beloved leader within Columbia’s FLI Student Network, Chicane Caucus, and University Senate, strengthening the community-building, political education, and institutional support of FLI and Latine students. Camacho also has volunteered with the New York Immigration Coalition, Project Rousseau, and various legal clinics to support immigrants with translation, asylum filing, and court accompaniment. After graduation, she plans to work in immigration or civil rights advocacy and attend law school. Camacho is always applying the love, language, tenacity, and imagination she learns from her family and communities.
