Jacob Hahn CC’28 is studying data science and mathematics, with research interests in machine learning and mathematical modeling, and their applications to real-world decision-making. He is being recognized for his leadership in applying his coursework to public health research and community engagement. This includes his research in building interpretable mathematical models predicting influenza vaccine uptake and his data science work through Community Impact at Columbia. Hahn aims to pursue a career in quantitative applications where he can apply rigorous mathematical and computational tools in environments that reveal groundbreaking, community-oriented results. He is particularly drawn to problems that require both technical depth and clear communication of insights that can create policy and help others. Hahn is an Eagle Scout and enjoys activities that give back to the community.
