Felipe Rachid Molina SEAS’26 majored in financial engineering with a minor in computer science. He is from Bogotá, Colombia. Molina is being recognized for his academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to mentorship across Columbia’s engineering and finance communities. As the first undergraduate researcher at the Columbia University Center for Artificial Intelligence in Business Analytics and Financial Technology, he worked under Professor Ali Hirsa and implemented a Neural Basis Expansion Analysis Time Series with Exogenous Variables (NBEATSx) to forecast market returns, improving performance relative to baseline deep learning models. He has also served as a TA over multiple semesters in both the IEOR and mathematics departments. Molina also has been actively involved in student leadership. As director of the Global Markets Division at Columbia Alpha Partners, he led technical training sessions and mentorship for students interested in quantitative finance. He is also an active member of the Association of Latino Professionals for America Columbia Chapter, engaging in professional development and mentorship initiatives. Through his work across research, leadership, and mentorship, Molina has focused on building communities and creating opportunities for others within and beyond Columbia.
