Armando Javier Gimenez CC’26 is a native New Yorker who first came to Columbia University seeking to make a new home not so far away from his own. Studying creative writing, psychology, and religion, Gimenez sought to challenge himself in every aspect of campus he knew. As president of the Activities Board at Columbia, Gimenez orchestrated the financial development and planning of more than 190 student organizations. Through collaborating with administration and faculty, he helped ensure student groups are offered the resources and support they deserve. To develop new skills, he joined the Columbia University Culinary Society as a founding board member. To pursue his endeavors in law, Gimenez became lead editor of entertainment law for Columbia’s Black Pre-Law Journal. Mentorship, equity, and excellence are the forces that push Gimenez to better himself and all those around him. He seeks to bring his dedication to community and passion for justice to the legal field as he pursues a J.D.
“I thank my family for making me the man I am today. I give them my hands, so they may be provided for. I thank my friends for pushing me to be the man I want to be. I give them my heart, as they have shown me true love. I thank myself for each step I took forward in my life. I give myself a smile, for I gladly face my future.”
