Creating a Culture of Compassion and Support: Your Role in Disrupting Gender- and Power-Based Violence

This introductory session will help students to understand what gender- and power-based violence is and what their role in disrupting it can be.

During this session, participants will learn:

• How to build a culture of compassion and support
• To identify different forms of power-based violence
• A working definition of affirmative consent
• Situations in which bystander intervention is necessary and various ways to intervene
• Resources and services available to students

Participants will have the opportunity to apply what they are learning through this interactive session facilitated by members of the Sexual Violence Response (SVR) Team.
