Award Recognition

Senior Marshal
Kavika Krishnan SEAS’25's leadership, hard work and dedication as Student Body president of the Engineering Student Council have been pivotal in brightening the Columbia community. During her tenure on the council, Krishnan established beloved traditions — like the Dinner on ESC initiative and the ESC Cardboard Boat Contest — and authored a notable proposal on student event costs, which led to an additional $338k in funding for student organizations. Krishnan was heavily involved in key engineering-specific policies, helping create emergency P/D/F options, advocating for the approval of new nontechnical electives and working to bring an alumni mentorship program to SEAS undergraduates. Outside of her many council-related contributions, Krishnan served as president of Columbia Sur and was a senior advisor for Columbia Raaga. She also volunteered with Artists Reaching Out and was a teaching assistant in the Computer Science department, supporting COMS 2132, ENGI 1006, and COMS 4111.
I am beyond honored to receive this award and am incredibly grateful to my friends, advisers and professors for helping me thrive here at Columbia. I would like to especially thank my parents for their constant love and support, and the members (past and present) of the Engineering Student Council for shaping my college experience!
