Health and Wellness
Buyong Kim CC’25 is a graduating senior majoring in neuroscience. She is being recognized for her service and involvement in student organizations and community work. At Columbia, Kim has served as president of Columbia Synapse, co-president of Robogals, GED coordinator at Columbia Community Impact, teaching assistant in the Psychology Department, and as a volunteer with the Columbia Brain Exercise Initiative. In these roles, Kim has built a supportive space for individuals impacted by traumatic brain injuries, led STEM outreach for young girls and supported low-income adults preparing for the GED. Outside of Columbia, she has worked as a medical assistant and as a research assistant in the Basu Lab at NYU Langone Health, where she has studied human cell circuitry contributing to hyperexcitability in temporal lobe epilepsy.
I am very grateful and honored to receive the Leadership and Excellence Award in Health & Wellness. Thank you so much to those who have supported me throughout my Columbia journey!
