Emerging Leader
Ikem Ikekpeazu CC’26 is being recognized for his leadership and commitment to the Columbia community, particularly within finance and basketball. Currently, Ikekpeazu serves as co-president of the Columbia chapter of BlackGen Capital, Columbia’s largest undergraduate minority finance club. As president, his responsibilities include coordinating club events with financial firms, overseeing the investment pitch process, leading analyst education and planning service initiatives with schools in Harlem. Ikekpeazu is grateful for his time in BlackGen Capital, as it has allowed him to help close the access gap and promote greater inclusion in the financial services industry. Outside of finance, Ikekpeazu has a secondary passion for basketball. As a sophomore, he helped found the Columbia Men’s Club Basketball team and now serves as a team captain. Through his involvement with the club basketball team, Ikekpeazu shares his extensive basketball knowledge with his teammates while continuing to pursue his lifelong passion for the sport.
I am incredibly honored to receive this award. Thank you to my parents, siblings, family, mentors and friends for your unwavering support and guidance throughout my time at Columbia.
