Inclusion and Advocacy
Leonard A. Pullman Memorial Prize
Caitlin E. Hamilton is being recognized for her inclusion and advocacy efforts as the president of the Columbia Student Disability Network (CSDN), and as a student support worker for the Women in Energy (WIE) Initiative at the Center on Global Energy Policy. Additionally, Hamilton was an Orientation leader for two years and a crew captain for one year in the Community Action, Responsibility, and Engagement NSOP experience, and spearheaded advocacy for increased accessibility in NSOP programming. As CSDN president, Hamilton oversaw and led planning for the second and third Disability Affinity Graduations, which celebrates the accomplishments of students with disabilities. Additionally, as a WIE student support worker, Hamilton helped schedule office hours and supported events with the goal of working towards gender parity in the energy workforce.
Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout my time at Columbia, including my family members! Spoons was an incredible source of community that helped me to develop as an advocate for disability inclusion. I would also like to thank Jessica Weis, who served as an incredible mentor figure. Lots of love to Jord Barnett, Liv Kilmer SEAS’25, and Sarah Bearden SEAS’25 (and so many others!) for their steadfast friendship and care.
